After becoming a cause celebre on Watch Bikini Pirates (2006)the Internet with her turn as Barb on Stranger Things, up-and-coming actress Shannon Purser has been cast in the thriller Wish Upon, Mashablehas confirmed.

John Leonetti (Annabelle) is directing the movie, which stars Joey King (The Conjuring) as a teenage misfit who finds a magic box that grants her wishes, though each demands a deadly payment.

Purser will play King's friend, who bears witness to the horrific consequences of each wish.
